Hello, does this filter housing have pipe attached from SCV ? or just housing with cap on return port. If pipe is returning to filter housing from SCV it is possible SCV has excessive internal leakage and high pressure is causing filter/housing failure. Quick way to check is by capping off pressure line to SCV and ran tractor, or remove return line from SCV and cap off port by filter cover,run tractor and observe oil return flow, should be very low return with levers in neutral.

Hi my name isXXXXX filter housing has a line coming out of the side of it which goes to a 175 loader. There are know other lines connected to the filter housing. What are you referring to SCV? I don't know what SCV means. Is that solenoid control valve? If so I don't have one. My loader has a cable operated joy stick which is sticky and hard to operate in cold weather.

SCV is selective control valve for your rear remote couplers. Would recommend capping off fittings of filter housing and observing oil returning from loader valve and SCV. You should have very little return oil with functions in neutral.

It is possible your SCV return is returning directly to rockshaft housing instead of filter cover and SCV can be ruled out as problem.

Also check part #11 In photo, make sure filter releif valve isn't stuck causing this problem.

Your oil would have milky appearance if water is present, filter relief valve should have opened up if line was blocked.

Hello ebnel, I disconnected the loader line that was attached to the filter cover and you were correct. When I started the tractor no fluid came from the hose I disconnected, additionally the cover did not blow off. So I reconnected the loader line and no problems until I tried to roll the bucket. It then blew the seal on the filter cover. I fixed that and reassembled filter and cover and disconnected the loader line again. I then started the tractor and within 10 seconds it blew the cover off again shearing the 3/8 bolt in half. Also the SCV for remote couplers is returning through the top of trans. housing. I took out part #11 in your illustration, the relief valve, and it looks ok. I pushed on it with a screw driver and it works smoothly. Don

At this point we need to replace hydraulic filter cover,if not already done. New cover has reinforcement on bottom edge, is possible bolt could bottom out in housing when using old cover. Also may need to rent adapter from dealer to measure transmission pump/system pressure if pressure control valve is stuck. Test port is front right port of shift cover, should maintain 150-170 PSI.

Hydraulic filter cover does not need to be replaced as it is 1/2" thick cast iron and is not cracked or deformed in anyway. The problem isn't that the cover is failing it's just the result of something else causing high pressure. The bolt is not bottoming out as you can unscrew the broken end that is in the housing out with your fingers and there is plenty of threaded headroom left over above it. I will perform your pump pressure test next and get back with you. But how do I test pump pressure if I can't start tractor because it will blow the filter cover off? Is your answer the pressure control valve the only possible problem?

No the pressure control valve isn't only potentional issue, Before checking transmission pressure, destroke front main hydraulic pump. You shoud have screw on front cover of pump,either T handle or small vertical screw "if equipped" if not equipped then you will need to purchase destroking valve from dealer, however most of this model should have this feature from factory. Destroke pump before starting, that will eliminate any high pressure possibly getting into system. If trans. psi. checks fine then and filter cover stays ok,then issue is on high pressure side, internal leakage from either hitch or steering.
