VerifiedThe forward clutch is slipping. This transmission only has a forward and reverse clutch. The speeds are all regular gears. Here is a picture of the test points if you have a pressure gauge.
Pressure is 175 at low idle and 205 at high idle.
Things to check are the linkage on top of the transmission, make sure it is going all the way into each shift detent.
Check the filter for clutch fibers or metal.
Drain the oil out and inspect the strainer for trash or metal. Look at the oil in bright like to see if it is very shine from metal grindings in it.
Check the oil to see if it is foamy or low. Inspect all oil line for loose clamps or damage that would allow air entry.
If pressure is normal, it may mean the seals have not failed yet. The disc can still be worn out. Inspect the filter, oil and strainer to determine the extent of the damage. Always check the linkage and make sure it will go into the detent. The lever has stops and with worn linkage it may not travel completely to forward.
If you have a small press and want to buy or make some tooling the job can be done without too much trouble. The transmission has to be removed and the case spit in half. I would not attempt it without a book though. The rebuild book for the transmission is SENR3133 and can be purchased without buying the whole book.
