make sure the oil level is ok in the reverser/transmission. the fnr shift lever engages hydraulic clutch packs for the drive. there is a pack for reverse, low, high. The issue is there are steel sealing rings on the pistons and over time, or cruddy oil, the sealing rings wear into the housings and then the oil bypasses. usually you can determine this. If it shifts ok when it is cold and gets worse when it warms up that is a good indicator. also I have found that if you shift into high and it does not move, sometimes pushing down the clutch pedal and then dumping it ( like you were going to lay rubber ) will get the rings to seal and it will go until you shift again. If this is the case the reverser packs need to come out. this is a big job. Remove engine, remove clutch housing, remove front reverser cover, remove top cover, remove clutch packs.

There is a hydraulic pressure adjustment that needs to be checked before doing the whole job. By your right heel is a big plug that looks like a barrel drum plug. remove the plug and you will see a 1/8 pipe plug going in at an angle. install a 300 psi gauge in this.remove the left floor board and you will see a big rubber plug in the clutch housing. remove this plug and look down into the hole and you will see a threaded rod with a locking nut on it , takes a 1/2 deep well. make sure your tools are in good shape so that the socket stays on the extension. The whole adjustment boils down to this statement " When the clutch pedal is pushed down 1 inch the pressure needs to rise 5 lbs " usually what I do is back off the lock nut and then tighten a little and check the clutch pedal and if it doesn't rise then I tighten the nut a little and try again. before you do anything with the nut check to see if the pressure rises when you start the pedal movement. I do this at an idle with the reverser lever locked in neutral and the transmission out of gear. ( there is a detent between 3 and 4 where the transmission is in neutral )

It sounds like something is wrong with the clutches on the right. These are very susceptible to getting water in them then rusting up. You can see the throwout bearing and pressure plate after you remove the 5 bolt cover under the seat. If the left side is ok then I would try to make the right side steering lever feel like the left side. There are 2 things that happen with the one lever 1st the throwout bearing releases the pressure plate fingers and then the brake comes on. the throwout brg is controlled by the threaded rod and the brake is controlled by the bolt and jamb nut.

If you are serious about tuning on this a tech book would be very helpful.
