I have a partial bicornuate uterus and had 3 successful deliveries(csections), only one was preterm at 35 weeks. I am 42 and went in for annual and dr said my uterus is located up near my belly button instead of in my pelvic area. I'm going in for an unltrasound. My question is would my abnormality cause any changes in placement later after child bearing years? Are there any associated risks with this type of uterus other than the ones I'm aware of during conception and delivery? He's leaning towards possible fibroids but I have no symptoms other than slightly tender right before mensrruation which are normal bleeding, no other symptoms.

Doctor's Assistant: Have you been keeping a personal medical record?

Yes, I am an RN and no issues really since my deliveries which were c sections with some adhesions noted after first. My annual visits have been normal since my 3rd child at age 32. I did have the Essure sterilization tubal procedure and that has since been pulled off market (2008)

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

Completely healthy otherwise, all labs annually, no symptoms

There are no risk factors associated with the bicornuate or partial bicornuate uterus.

An enlarged uterus is mot likely due to fibroid.

Nothing worrisome, I can assure you.

Being a medical professional, you may be thinking of cancer. This is highly unlikely with no symptoms.

Fibroids can remain asymptomatic, even with huge size.

This would be confirmed by an ultrasound and/or CT scan.

Please feel free for your follow up questions.

I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.

Thanks for using Just Answer.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.

I have been dealing with an extremely serious health crisis for over three years, and one your physicians asked me more questions, gave me more answers and encouragement than a dozen different doctors who have been treating me!!
