Customer Question

I have a twitching in my vastus medialis in my left leg. It does hurt a little with each contraction. Just trying to figure out if I should get it checked out despite not being covered due to loss of job.
JA: What seems to make the symptoms worse or better? Have you noticed any swelling?
Customer: No swelling, but there is an area about the size of a quarter (still following that muscle, near my patella) that is warm to the touch. No difference between flexed or straightened.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: We have found out at an E.R. visit that I may have thyroid issues. (I had nearly passed out in 70° weather from "heat exhaustion" and they checked the t3 and t4 levels. Not drastically high, but an indicator that there may be an issue.)

Thanks for the follow-up.
I understand your concern.
As per your description, it sounds Muscle strain.

And you should do gentle massage with topical diclofenac sodium ointment over the counter with cool compresses on affected site.

Also take OTC Advil.

You should wear knee brace.

Also elevate your leg while rest.

Wear cushioned shoes to prevent strain while walking.

If your symptoms'll not show any improvement then see your doctor for a clinical exam.

Feel free for further queries. It's good to discuss rather than quit.
