I have RBC of 5 from two urine samples take one day apart.

I have RBC of 5 from two urine samples take one day apart. also the bacteria and epithelial cells are "Many" on these two samples. my general Dr refer me to Urologist who wants to do CT scan (Hematurial/CT IVP), urine cytology, and cytoscope. I request for another urine sample to recheck RBC, but the urologist thinks even if it is nagtive, it does not tell anything. are all these tests over kill? please help

I tend to think it's a rush to judgement. RBC in a urine sample can be from exercise, a kidney stone, urinary tract infection (which would also explain the bacteria). Epithelial cells and bacteria can also come from sample contamination from the vagina. Usual procedure would be to give an antibiotic for the infection and follow up in 10 days to 2 weeks with another urine test to see if there is any improvement. Treating the infection would seem to be the first step.
