I have a tightening around the bottom of my left lower rib cage throughout the day. It doesn't hurt it is just uncomfortable.
JA: How long have you had the pain? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: a month or so. Nothing really makes it happen it just happens from time to time.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

The most important issue to rule out in your case is any cardiac reason behind the discomfort - which is actually quiet common.

This can be easily done with an EKG , ultrasound of your heart and a variety of stress tests.

I would recommend for this to be done on a urgent basis, because a heart attack can be fatal where as a muscle strain (can cause similar symptoms) would not be.

Wish you best of luck.
