Customer Question

my 11 year old daughter (who has henoch-schonlein purpura 2 months ago) is now presenting with RUQ pain that radiates down and to belly button and around to the back flank area. she has had U/S of her abdomen, and bmp and CBC and CXR. all negative for anything. they told us it was probably a muscle strain... it has been almost a week with no relief. pain worsens after meals. any thoughts?
JA: Have you had any recent injuries? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: movement, sitting and eating make it worse. no extreme activity. light bike riding is the most. her knees are still hurting a bit from the HSP so she hasn't been too active...
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: not that I can think of...

Since when is she having this pain?
Does she have any other symptom? nausea, fever?
When did she have ultrasound?

Which medicines were prescribed?

Hello again,
I was waiting for your reply.
The pain on the right upper part can be from a few causes.
Inflammation of the liver, gall bladder disease can cause pain in the right side below the rib cage.
It can go to back in gall bladder, liver conditions.
But her ultrasound came out normal.
Sometimes peptic ulcer pain can also be felt on the right side.
It can go down or to the back.
It can come from muscular pain when it aggravates with movement or sitting.
Sometimes pleural inflammation pain can be referred here which can increase in deep respiration.
Acetaminophen can help in muscular pain.
Gastritis or peptic ulcer pain can get worse after meal.

In that case, antacid, zantac will work.
I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.
If you are satisfied, please rate my answer as good or excellent.
Regards.
