Customer Question

Pain has been going on for 5 weeks or so.
I think it's getting worse not better.
Sharp pain under right breast, from sternum thru right rib cage all the way over to the side. It gets sharper when I move, especially when moving my right arm.

Hello!

Well it does not have the characteristics of heart related pain If this is your concern...

It might be related to costochondritis -- that is inflammation of the cartilage between the sternum and rib and common to cause pain under the breast area ...

It could be related to shingles onset as this may cause intense skin pain and at times prior to onset of rash ...blisters ....

Shingles wraps around usually back to chest and only one side affected ..

Does it hurt to take a deep breath ?

It could relate to irritation of spinal nerve in the thoracic region...

I hope this information is helpful for you

It does hurt to take a deep breath.
It also hurts when I lay on my back.
No blisters, but I've had skin pain on my arm and across my left ear.

Hello again,

The pain with deep breath is clue that it may relate to inflammation the pleural lining between lung and chest wall or the chest wall itself in some way ..

Try an anti-inflammatory ALEVE 2 tablets twice a day with food ...

Follow up with your doctor as I think a good exam and perhaps a chest xray may be of help to your case

The left ear and left arm pain seem unrelated

I more think that you may have a case of pleuuritis ....

I hope this information is helpful for you

Best regards!
