i am a51 year old woman with a 4mm atrial septal defect. i have high blood pressure which i was taking bp meds for. about a month and a half ago my blood pressure suddenly dropped to 90/60 and then would go up to 120/72. The problem i have been having is if i move around my bp drops if i sit still it goes more back to normal. i quit taking my bp med a month and a half ago and it has not helped. i get very dizzy and hard to breath sometimes i have to lay down for a few minutes to stop the dizziness

have you had a cardiac echocardiogram to see if there is blood flow through the septal defect? this could be causing your blood pressure drops.

you may need heart surgery to repair the defect to help your symptoms.

I suspect you have had a cardiac echo if you know you have a septal defect.
