Customer Question

I had Achilles' tendon surgery 3 weeks ago. I was in a cast for 2 weeks and then saw my ortho. She said that the incision looked and and out me in another cast for 4 weeks before my walking boot. It's been a week in that cast now, and I still feel a lot of burning sensation, pins and needles and some pulling, especially in the heel. How normal is this?

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

These symptoms suggest nerve compression at the surgical area.

This can occur due to the inflammation and swelling from surgery.

May take 6 to 8 weeks to show reasonable improvement.

It is possible in upto 5% cases following this type of surgery.

Should improve gradually.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
