Customer Question

I have an enlarged bile duct in Jan. it was measured at 8. I had my gall bladder removed in Jan. 2016 because of sludge. They just did a MRI a couple of weeks ago. My bile duct has gone from 8 to 16. I'm seeing a gastroentrnolgis this Tue. I'm really nervous my mom passed away from bile duct cancer at the age of 70 in 2009.
JA: OK. The Doctor will need to help you with this. Is there anything else the Doctor should be aware of?
Customer: Just this week I've had symptoms of bloating, heartburn, pain in the upper right side of abdomen. Up till now I haven't had any symptoms.
JA: How long have you had the pain? What seems to make the pain better or worse?
Customer: When I eat I'm more uncomfortable and in pain. Sometimes after I have a bowel movement it feels a little better
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Doctor about your situation and then connect you two.

Did MRI mention any sign of cancer? or any lump?

Expert:  Dr. Saha replied 1 year ago.

Hello again,

I was waiting for your reply.
Dilated bile duct can occur from causes other than cancer too.
There can be stenosis or scarring of the opening of bile duct.
This can occur from an inflammation.
Doctor can ERCP /MRCP to find out the cause.
If MRI did not mention about a lump or growth, I feel you should not worry.
I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.
If you are satisfied, please rate my answer as good or excellent.

The MRI did not mention any sign of cancer or lump. I've had no jaundice itching of skin. They did find a benign tumor on my pancreas but not worried about that

My surgeon who did my gall bladder surgery said the gastroentronologist may order endscopy to see if there is a stone

Sorry for the delay.

I was away from computer.

Yes, that is what I wrote before.

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography will be taken to find out if there is a stone causing the obstruction of the bile duct.

As MRI did not mention about cancer or lump, you need not to worry.

Good luck.
