Customer Question

On a random dot/fra random test I tested 1330 for meth and 1009 for amphetamines. I take pail 10 mg daily, I had been taking over the counter alegra for allergies and I had taken nuvigil 150 mg. I have never done drugs of any type ever. What would cause this reading???

HelloA false positive would prompt the sample to be sent to GC/MS confirmation.lThat would not make a mistake. If they did not do confirmation, they can not claim a positive. The only other possibility is that they mixed up patient samples: not likely but remotely possible. OK, so you might have more questions or want to give me more information: Please use reply to expert if you have further questions. When you are ready, please click a positive rating [hopefully excellent—that’s how we are paid, per rating]. If you forgot something, come back. Is 1330 and 1009 extremely high and would nuvigil cause a false positive??? What about nuvigil and Allegra taken together would that cause a false positive??
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 1 year ago.
It is a positive. As I explained, if nuvigil caused a false positive, that would be immediately corrected with GC/MS testing.Same with allegra. If they did not do GC/MS, then they can not call your results valid. please click a positive rating [hopefully excellent—that’s how we are paid, per rating]. I know nothing about drugs and don't understand. Is 1330 and 1009 extremely high and how much of meth and amphetamines would it take to get those readings?? Also will nuvigil 150 mg cause a false positive??? And will nuvigil 150 mg taken with Allegra cause a false positive???

You can not tell how much one would take to get those readings. The readings are threshold readings...indicating a positive.NO, in proper testing, your meds would not cause a false positive. As I have explained, DOT testing dose GC/MS confirmation. There are no false positives.
