Customer Question

I get sinus infections fairly often, twice a year or so. They usually go away on their own in a week or two, but I got one towards the end of March and it doesn't feel like I fully recovered yet. My cough has gotten a lot better and I stopped hacking up green and yellow mucus a while ago, but I'm still a little stuffy (although the discharge is now clear). I also feel more fatigued than normal. I've still been able to exercise as I usually do, I just feel sluggish.
Lastly, I seem to have very minor fever symptoms that come and go. Again, nothing that keeps me from my every day routine, but I'll feel flush or get the slight chills and slight body aches on almost a daily basis. These symptoms come and go. In fact, I've felt like I was getting better a few different times, but then the symptoms will come back and it's getting frustrating.
I briefly tried the saline flush through my naval cavity and it seemed to be working for a while. I also take an over-the-counter allergy medication (fexofenadine) on a daily basis. I'm hesitant to take an anti-biotic because I'm worried about antibiotic resistance and I'm not sure it will help anyway.
Does this sound like sinusitis or could it be something else? Any thoughts?

Hello,Thank you for your question.I am Dr Saha, I shall try my best to help you.Your symptoms can be due to respiratory tract infection.Sinus infection can be associated. As you had coughing with greenish discharge chest infection can be possible.Viral infection is a common cause which usually does not require antibiotic.Bacterial super infection can develop which can be continued as chronic sinusitis. As it is continued for a long time along with low grade fever, weakness, you need to consult doctor for tests and proper treatment.I hope this information helps. If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.If you are satisfied, please rate my answer as good or excellent.Regards.

X-ray/scan, throat swab test, blood work can be done to know the cause.
