Customer Question

Greetings. I believe I broke a rib seven days ago due to blunt force to my lower left chest. (I have had broken ribs before, but have not had an x-ray this time...yet.) I am experiencing visual bloating in the lower left quadrant, along with feeling bloated and "tight." I have never experienced this with the several other instances when I've broken ribs. Should I be worried? I have no nausea, and am not passing blood in urine or stool, nor orally. I think I'm fine, but...?

Hello, Welcome to Just Answer and thanks for your question. This time you definitely need to be seen. You may have bruised your spleen or other organs this time, accounting for the bloating and pain. There could be internal bleeding even if you haven't seen bleeding from your stomach, kidney or lower digestive tract. It could be accumulating in your lower left abdomen. You really should have xrays today. Since it's a weekend, you need to go to the ER. Please let me know if you have questions. Best regards, Schuyler~
