I have heart palpitations several times every day and I keep

Customer Question

I have heart palpitations several times every day and I keep getting chest pain that only lasts a second. I wore a holter monitor five years ago when the palpitations weren't too bad and I just had an EKG a week ago that didn't show anything other than a low heart rate (54 BPM). The palpitations are really starting to freak me out and I do get lightheaded sometimes but it doesn't feel like what I've read that a heart attack feels like. I'm 37 years old and female.

Thank you for your question.
I am Dr Saha, I shall try my best to help you.
There can be ectopic beats or irregular rhythm or tachyarrhythmias.
As you feel light headed during the episodes, I feel you need to consult a cardiologist.
A repeat Holter would be helpful.
He can also suggest stress tests.

Please try to avoid alcohol, caffeine, smoking if you take any.

I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.
