My husband has been in the last few months diagnosed with

Customer Question

My husband has been in the last few months diagnosed with diverticulitis, and for the past few days has been in severe abdominal pain. He saw a physician Sunday evening (March 20) at the ER in Casa Grande, who indicated that he did not have diverticulitis but had a virus, as well as bronchitis. The ER doctor prescribed cough medication for my husband's bronchitis, and an antibiotic. He has been in pain and in bed for the last few days, and has no appetite. He has to drive us home to Minnesota in a few days. I am disabled and cannot drive. What do you suggest?

I understand your concern.

Well as you describe you can try some self care measures which provide him relief.

Give him a liquid diet.

Also hydrate him with Oral rehydration solution.

Give him OTC Prilosec and metamucil.

Give him Motrin.

Apply warm compresses with a heating pad.

Avoid spicy,fried food,carbonated beverages.

He can do saline gargles and steam inhalation for cough.

A probiotic can be helpful.

If his pain 'll not improve with such self care measures then visit ER again and ultrasound whole abdomen can be advised.

Hope this helps.
