I have had cramps in my lower abdomen and rectal bleeding

Customer Question

I have had cramps in my lower abdomen and rectal bleeding for 3 days. I've called my Dr and yesterday spent 5 hrs in the ER at ORMC without being seen. I am very concerned and am wondering if I should go to the ER at Fl Hospital today. The bleeding has lessened as well as the cramps but they are still present.

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

This is still concerning.

rectal bleeding and lower abdominal cramps can be due to the acute diverticulitis, or a bleeding polyp or even hemorrhoids.

A clinical evaluation is required with a CT scan.

You should go to the different hospital today.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
