VALTREX Question: I am 60+ years of age and have been taking

Customer Question

VALTREX Question: I am 60+ years of age and have been taking Valtrex 1000 mg for just about a year. It has been quite effective and not caused me any side effects. I am fit, eat well and exercise regularly. My skin is quite youthful, however, I have recently noticed [on my chin] wrinkles that have never been there before. Is it possible that the drug is causing my skin to lose it's elasticity?

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

There is no such report so far with valacyclovir.

Hence this may be age related not medication related issue.

Valacyclovir can cause skin rash but not wrinkles.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
