Customer Question

I have a sensitive bump on the back of my skull. It sticks out about 1/8 of an inch and maybe 1 inch long and a half inch wide and it's painful and to the touch and if I move my fast it hurts and the pain runs down to my ear and down the back of my neck. I don't know if this is something to worry about or I should just go take a Epsom salt bath and see what happens.

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

This is likely an epidermoid cyst arising from the scalp layer.

THis is a benign condition but may be infected causing pain.

Hence, you should get it checked by your doctor.

You can apply over the counter Triple antibiotic ointment twice daily to address the infection.

You can also apply warm compress over the area.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
