Hi Dr Mazumdar, I'm 48 years old & I am having my period again 15 days after my last one & bleeding a lot & had a little cramping yesterday. also have some fibroids but they never been a problem & I am usually pretty regular.

at your age of 48, you could be coming closer to menopause and this can cause more irregular periods

hormone changes in your body or increased stress or dieting or more physical activity can cause your periods to change.

if you are bleeding a lot and it is not stopping, you should see your doctor and get blood testing. to check for anemia

and an ultrasound of your uterus to check on that fibroid. it could be larger now and bleeding more
