My husband fell from his tree-stand Friday afternoon.

Customer Question

My husband fell from his tree-stand Friday afternoon. Emergency room ct scans showed a fractured L3 transverse process. He was sent home with prescription of oxycodone/apap 5-325 and cyclobenapr tab 10 mg. He has not had a bowel movement since, and I have given one Dulcolax tablet daily. His Dr. appointment is not till Wednesday. Is it OK to give him some milk of magnesia in the meantime?

Hi there,

This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Both oxycodone and cyclobenzaprine can cause slow down of the intestine resulting in severe constipation.

Yes milk of magnesia can be taken along with dulcolax 10 mg for producing bowel movement.

Fleet's enema also can be tried as well.

If still not improvement, then better to check with his doctor or ER to rule out bowel obstruction.

Best wishes,

It was my pleasure to help you today.
