18 month old daughter came down with fever about of 103

Customer Question

18 month old daughter came down with fever about of 103 yesterday. At first no other symptoms. Just tired and sleepy. Then she vomited once. Since then just the fever. No more vomiting. I keep alternating giving her Tylenol and Motrin.
She seems uncomfortable. Should I bring her to the ER? Today is Sunday.

Hi there,

This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

That is high grade fever for her age.

Since motrin and tylenol are not bringing fever down,

she does need further evaluation to rule out any bacterial infection.

Hence you should take her to the ER.

Cold fluids, head sponging can be employed to bring fever down besides tylenol or motrin.

Best wishes,

It was my pleasure to help you today.
