I understand your concern.
Well as you describe, small hiatal hernias (< 3 cm) need conservative treatment initially which may include the avoidance of gastric over-distension (avoid large meals) and large meals before bed time.
Elevate the head of the bed and avoid lying down directly after meals.
If the condition has been brought on by stress, stress reduction techniques may be prescribed, or if overweight, weight loss may be indicated.
Antisecretory drugs like proton pump inhibitors and H2 receptor blockers can be used to reduce acid secretion.
Hydrate with plenty of fluids.
Avoid spicy,fried foods.
Eat a bland diet.
When there is no relief with conservative treatment and hernia is larger than 3 cm then firstly we recommend Gastroscopy, Esophageal manometry and esophageal Reflux monitoring.
And later surgical intervention should be recommended accordingly.
If you have any further query then we can discuss it thoroughly rather than give us poor/bad service.
