Customer Question

Hi, my dad had a urine culture for what I thought was a UTI. The results showed 10,000- 25,000 Cfu/ml escherichia coli & 1000- 10,000 Cfu/ml gamma streptococcus species. His doc said he doesn't have a UTI. I DONT THINK THATS RIGHT. What do you think?

Thank you for your question.
I am Dr Saha, I shall try my best to help you.

A colony count of more than 100,000 colony-forming units (CFU) of bacteria per ml. of urine is often considered as UTI.

A count below that needs to be judged according to the symptoms of the patient.

I think doctor has taken into consideration all her symptoms & test results to come to that conclusion.

I hope this information helps.
