Customer Question

I strained my left thigh muscle. And, the thigh hurts terribly when I try to stand up straight. What's wrong. I made an appointment with a orthopedic doctor, but he can't see me til the end of September.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that.

If the pain is at the back thigh then this is likely due to the hamstring injury.

If in front of the thigh, then likely quadriceps muscle injury.

Rupture of the muscle tendons make them weak.

Hence, any exertion causes delayed healing and pain.

Ideally, you need to use thigh strapping to immobilize and at the same time support the injured muscle group.

Ultrasonic therapy, sports massaging can be tried to improve blood flow to the muscle and hence the recovery.

NSAIDs like naproxen can be used 500 mg twice daily to help with the pain and inflammation.

You should use crutches for now besides strapping to avoid any weight bearing.

The healing may take 6 to 8 weeks usually.

Best wishes,

It was my pleasure to help you today.
