I had a cat scan and it showed about a 2 x 1.5 cm

Customer Question

i had a cat scan and it showed about a 2 x 1.5 cm heterogeneous area at the lower pole of my left kidney and appears somewhat masslike and invovles the left lowere pole renal vein. what does this mean?

Hi. If the mass were reported as homogeneous then it would very likely be just a benign renal cyst but if it's heterogeneous it could be a malignant tumor.
You'll most likely need an MRI or a PET scan to better define it and you may also need a fine needle biopsy.
