Restless leg syndrome can be difficult to treat.
The cause of restless leg syndrome is unknown in most cases.
It can be associated with heredity, obesity, smoking, caffeine, alcohol, nerve disease like polyneuropathy, hormonal imba***** *****ke diabetes, hypothyroidism, kidney disease.
Deficiency state like iron deficiency, anemia, vitamin & mineral deficiency can also be there.
It can be an effect of drugs like H2 histamine blocker, antidepressants like elavil etc.
She can discuss it with her doctor.
I feel she should consult a neurologist for an examination & find out the cause.
She can avoid smoking, caffeine, alcohol etc if she takes at all.
Mirapex, requip in low doses give good results in RLS
The other medicine options of restless leg are carbidopa-levodopa, tramadol,, clonazepam, gabapentin
, pregabalin,electric nerve stimulation,etc.
Low doses of narcotic analgesic are also used.
She can massage the limbs now & gently stretch them, take hot or cold bath.
She can try diphenhydramine or benadryl which can help with sleep & rls.
