My mother had an episode of severe back and abdominal pain

Customer Question

My mother had an episode of severe back and abdominal pain with sweating and vomiting for 6 hrs on Friday. The ER was packed and they made sure that it wasn't a heart attack or kidney or liver failure then just gave her morpheme and sent her home. The episode happened again this morning she can't get a hold of her doctor and refuses to see a different one. Should she go back to the ER?

Thank you for your question,
I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.
In which part of the abdomen & back does she feel the pain?
How many times did she vomit?
How is stool? urine?
Did she take any other medicine?

If you have any query after reading it, please ask.
There can be different causes for the pain, vomiting, sweating.
Heart issues need to be considered first which was ruled out.
Gastritis & reflux pain can be there.
Gall bladder, pancreatitis are other causes of such symptoms.
If the pain is getting severe, I would suggest to get her an examination in ER.
She would need fresh tests or investigations.
I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.

She take blood pressure meds for her heart rhythm. The abdominal pain is higher up she did not throw up this morning but was doubled over again and sweating. The first episode she threw up several times over a course of 6hrs and it only subsided after the morpheme.

As she has some heart issues, angina or infarct needs to be ruled out first.
Pain in this location can come from reflux too.
Antacid, zantac can help in this condition.
However, with severe pain, an examination would also be required.
