My 2 yr old son has hemoglobin of 6 we did blood tests twice

Customer Question

My 2 yr old son has hemoglobin of 6 we did blood tests twice in last two days its still 6. White blood cells and red blood cells are normal. Hematocrit is low too. He has high fever and other flue symptoms. His pediatric Dr sent him to ER at children's hospital last night but they sent him back because his vitals were normal and he looked normal. Today his fever is at 104.3. He is prescribed iron supplement and asked to cut down on milk consumption but I am lost why the ER sent him back last night saying they do transfusions on hemoglobin as low as 1 or 2 only. What should I do. Sitting at his pediatrician office and his oxygen level is 100 but still he is weak. Should we go to ER again or what. So lost and confused. Please advice

Hi. We can continue after this if you'd like. With a fever that high he absolutely needs to be taken back to the ER. He obviously has an infection that may not have been apparent last night. Even if this is just influenza at this point he is in danger of getting dehydrated as well as even more fatigued with that kind of anemia.
