I have diabetes Type 2, depression, high blood pressure, and hypothyroidism. Everyone of these is well under control. Here are the essential medications I am taking: Metformin, Zoloft, Welbuterin, Simvastatin, and Synthroid. I am just getting over strep and my nose is now running with post naval drip and head congestion. I am looking for suggestions as to over-the-counter medication that will alleviate these symptoms and work with my other medications. It's a tall order but I need some guidance. Jeff XXXX

Do you have fever,cough,sore throat?
Since how long have you been suffering from?
Are you taking any medications for sore throat?
Waiting for your response.

I had strep and am on day 3 of amoxicillin. No fever. No sore throat (at least not noticeable). Cough probably from post nasal drip

No fever. No sore throat that I can detect. A cough. Post nasal drip

It's my first priority to serve you.
Thanks for providing more information.
As you describe, you should try some self care measures like-
Take OTC Coricidin HBP as you have history of high blood pressure.
For further details-
Also take OTC Motrin 200 mg every 6-8 hourly for 2-3 days.
Drink warm liquids.
Do betadine oral gargles twice a day.
Also eat a bland diet.
Avoid spicy,fried foods,carbonated beverages.
Use a humidifier in your room.
Elevate your head side of bed while lying down.
You should take vitamin C tablets.
Also start a probiotic while taking amoxicillin to prevent any gastrointestinal upset.
Of course, nothing can replace an examination by a doctor, so if these symptoms do not improve, seeing a doctor for an exam and tests would be best.
I hope this helps.
