I have been fighting pain in my lower back on down to my knee on the rightside. I had xray taken and my MD said it was sclerosis and hypertrophy involving the inferior aspect of right sacroiliac joint. What does that mean and how can this be treated?
Dr. Brims :

Hello, welcome to the site! My name is***** will try to assist you with your medical question and any medical information you seek.

Dr. Brims :

I'm sorry to hear about this

Dr. Brims :

This means there is inflammation between the sacrum and the ilium

Dr. Brims :

The pain may improve with an anti-inflammatory medication like aleve

Dr. Brims :

If that does not help , then a CT guided cortisone injection should help

How long should I wait for inflamation to go down before I should inquire on an injection? It has already been over three weeks.

Dr. Brims : You may try aleve or Motrin , if there is no improvement in 4 weeks then you should try an injection
