Can a female (heterosexual) patient have a (nonsexual) friendship

This answer was rated:

Can a female (heterosexual) patient have a (nonsexual) friendship with a female (heterosexual) nurse and give her a birthday present? I can find nothing on the internet except about a male/female sexual relationship. Thank you.

When a professional nurse-client relationship exists it is unacceptable for a nurse to enter into a friendship or personal relationship with the client.

Generally, it is not acceptable for nurses and clients to exchange gifts.

I hope this helps

I am seeing her for weight loss. When I reach my goal and no longer see her professionally, can we then become friends? Our birthdays are two days apart. I am 66 and she is 58 and we have like interests. We both devour chocolate, work out at the gym (two separate gyms) and are swimming and walking on the treadmill.

That was only part of the question I wanted to ask. When I asked the 2nd part, I got a request for another $18.
When you are not seeing her professionally that it is normal to become friends.
Nurses can have friends in personal life.
But as a code of conduct nurses do not enter into friendships with clients.
