She is in class, so I am waiting on a response from her on some of the questions.

Thanks for providing more information.
As you describe,such white discharge from ear suggests ear infection.
It can be bacterial or fungal.
There can be some predisposing factors for it.
These include Sinusitis, presence of water in the ear canal as from swimming or from irrigation, allergies, skin diseases like eczema, dermatitis, injury to the canal from cleaning with swabs or other objects.
So she needs a consultation from ENT Doctor for further evaluation and management.
Further prescribed medications orally and topical use can be given.
Take OTC Claritin in the meantime.
Do steam inhalation.
