Customer Question

Two days ago I woke up with a sore throat, one that felt like the result of a previous night smoking/drinking. That day I drank lots of water and worked out. Sore throat got a little better but persisted. The next day I started experiencing acid reflux and heartburn. Today I have pain swallowing... feels like food is stuck in my chestbone. My diet has been good the past 3 days. The only causation I can think of is I did neck exercises with a weight plate shortly before the new symptoms appeared?

Associated cough,fever?
Phlegm at back of throat?
Constant throat irritation and clearing?
Are you taking any medications?
Stuffy nose?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

I do not have a chronic cough or stuffy nose. Any phlegm that I do have does not appear to be a result of these acute symptoms as I usually produce a small amount (a result of smoking a few swishers). I do not feel as though my temperature is off, but I haven't taken it.

Thanks for providing more information.

Well as you describe possible causes may include Pharyngitis, Laryngopharyngeal reflux disease, Muscle strain.

As you have tried self care measures with little relief so I suggest you to consult your regular doctor for a clinical examination for further evaluation.

You should avoid heavy weight lifting, neck exercises for a while.

Take OTC Claritin and Tylenol.

Drink warm liquids.

Do saline or oral betadine antiseptic mouth gargles.

Avoid spicy, fried foods, caffeine, carbonated beverages.

And make an appointment with your doctor as well.

I hope this helps.
