What causes canker sore

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

When did you start developing canker sores?

How frequently do you have it?

How many are there?

Did you consult doctor?

Did you take any treatment?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Its been 1-2months there's only one I've gotten them for a long time. No consult on doctor or meds

Thank you Tanner, for the information.

The exact cause of canker sore is not clear.

Different possibilities are there.

It is likely that multiple factors are involved.

There can be genetic, immunological factors.

Deficiency of iron, folic acid or vitamins can also be there.

I would suggest to take an examination by doctor.

He can prescribe supplements if any deficiency is detected.

Different medications are used to treat canker sores.

Prescription anti-inflammatory gels containing steroids like fluocinonide or triamcinolone are used.

Topical antibiotics like tetracycline can be used.

Kaopectate can help to prevent recurrence & healing too.

Till you see doctor you can use benzocaine or Oragel which is available otc.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.
