I have a congest chest, painful urination (at start) and cracking

This answer was rated:

I have a congest chest, painful urination (at start) and cracking sounds and aches in the joints. What might be the problem? (Background: I have sickle cell trait and a bronchitis allergy sets in when I'm in the cold)

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

When did all those symptoms start?

When did you start taking Norfloxacin?

Did you have blood in urine?

Did you have any recent test?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

Symptoms begun three days ago.

I have taken 4 tabs of Norfloxacin (400mg) so far.

There's no blood in the urine.

A rapid urine test taken two days ago showed infectious cells in the urine (no more). Doctor says UTI is unlikely and that I may have Chlamydia/Gonorhhea. Had recommended a urine culture to establish what is in the urine.

The urination problem seems to be clearing after the tabs I have taken. I also don't have high temperature. But joint pain, muscle itches and congested chest remain.

* Been married for 6 months. I had had sex only once in life prior to getting married last December.

Did you have any other test besides rapid urine test?

Did you have blood counts, chest X ray?

Do you have any swelling of the joint? or only ache?

Which joint is affected?

Is it a new symptom?

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

I didn't have any other tests.

I last did chest X-ray and blood check in January for my Canadian visa. I didn't have any problems.

No swelling of joints.

The pain is periodic, and only for seconds around knee and elbow joints.

I have not had anything like this before. Joint pains usually come with fever for a few days and go (perhaps once a year)

Thank you Charles, for all the information,

All those symptoms may not be related to one cause.

Allergy, bronchitis can cause chest congestion.

There can be an infection in the chest.

Viral infection can cause joint aches.

Fever may not be present always.

Urinary symptoms can be unrelated to those.

You should have a culture of urine as the doctor has suggested.

However, as the chest congestion is remaining, you need to take a review by doctor.

He can take X ray, blood counts after examining the chest.

Treatment then can be directed accordingly.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

Best wishes.
