Why do i have a chemical odor to my urine. I do not take any prescription meds.

What is your age?

Associated burning sensation and pain during urination?

Is it foul,ammonia like smell?

Is urine cloudy?

Pain in lower abdomen?

Duration of symptoms?

Any other medical illness?

Are you taking any vitamin supplement?

Thanks dear.

Customer: replied 4 years ago.

My age is 75 years old. I have no burning or pain with urination. Urine is not cloudy, no abdominal pain, duration of 2 months, no illnesses.

Thanks for providing more information.

As you are suffering from last few months with no change then I will advise that you see a physician who can do a physical exam, urinalysis,as underlying undiagnosed infection may present with similar odor in urine.

The physician also should check liver function tests,as liver pathology(increased ammonia) may also present with similar odor too.
Even excess protein in food, dehydration, defect in metabolism, diabetes, multivitamin use,Asparagus intake can result in chemical odor in urine.

Meanwhile I will advise that you take plenty of water and try cranberry juice.

Hope this helps.
