I have been having pain in my lower abdomen for the past 3

This answer was rated:

I have been having pain in my lower abdomen for the past 3 days. Hurts more when walking and laying down flat. Also a lot of pressure when I go to sit down. Hurts to touch my stomach area, mostly in the bottom center to right side. I have never had anything like this before. Coincidentally, it started on the first day of my period, which confuses me as to whether it could be uterine or digestive- related. But eating doesn't seem to affect it.

Hello, welcome to the site! My name is***** and I will try to assist you with your medical question, and any medical information you seek

Dr Brims :

I'm sorry to hear about this

Dr Brims :

Do you have any fevers, chills, diarrhea or nausea?

Customer:

Thank you. ***** feel fine other than the stomach pain.

Dr Brims :

Is the pain constant or does it come and go?

Customer:

it varies in intensity but has yet to go away completely.

Customer:

Walking around seems to aggravate it

Dr Brims :

Okay, this may be an ovarian cyst, or it may be an appendicitis, it may also be a muscle tear or strain

Customer:

I don't think it is a muscle strain, but I did consider the other two. The pain was the worst Thursday night and early Friday- wouldn't appendicitis have gotten worse?

Dr Brims :

It may get worse over time, it depends on how sever it is

Dr Brims :

SOmetimes they stay the same for a long time before they get worse

Customer:

When it really flares- while walking home today, for example- my entire abdomen hurt intensely, extending almost up to my stomach. Is not concentrating on the right side only. Feels like I am carrying around a water balloon inside me- that keep filling up.

Dr Brims :

I see, how bad is the pain on a scale of 1-10?

Customer:

That is the best way I can explain it. And a lot of pressure when sitting down.

Customer:

at it's worst, I would say 7-8 (considering 10 to be disabling or excrutiating)

Dr Brims :

Does anything make the pain better?

Dr Brims :

Are you there?

Customer:

not really

Customer:

not moving!

Dr Brims :

Okay, it may be an ovarian cyst or an appendicitis

Customer:

I haven't seen a "pattern" to it yet, to know what is triggering it.

Dr Brims :

ok

Customer:

I will see what happens over the next couple of days and if it doesn't go away, will see a doctor

Dr Brims :

I agree with that, but if you have any fevers or change in bowel habits, then you should see a doctor right away

Customer:

ok- I assume that would indicate an infection, which isn't the case right now

Dr Brims :

Yes, that would indicate an infection

Customer:

hoping it just goes away on its own : )

Dr Brims :

I hope so too

Customer:

thanks for your help!

Dr Brims :

You're quite welcome
