My mom was discharged a few weeks ago from the hospital. She had congestive heart failure and has stage 3 kidney failure. She recently finished her at home prednisone. She is very swollen. This evening she notice she was leaking fluids from her lower abdomen area and when she bends she has a cutting sensation. We were wondering if this is the swelling being relived through her skin or if this is something to be concerned and take her to the er for

As the skin is edematous or swollen there is likely to be leaking from pressure of fluid & devitalized skin.

She needs an examination by doctor.

You can apply sterile gauze over the area.

shes on O2 but upon standing or sitting her blood oxygen level drops from 97- to 84 and she becomes short of breath

no its progressively worsen when she is walking or standing but when she is laying or sitting it has been remaining the same

she said shes drinking alot of water but she is not urinating alot at all

If the respiratory distress does not get worse & she does not have much pain, then you can take her to doctor in the morning. Otherwise, I would suggest to take her to ER.
