what is the generally accepted solution to repair a torn tendon in the knee
Anthony Bray MD :

Hello!

Anthony Bray MD :

In general you would be looking at surgey to repair a torn tendon....

Anthony Bray MD :

You should consult an orthopedic specialist for evaluation and treatment of this type problem....

Anthony Bray MD :

(also for purposes of clarification too .. you may be confusing ligament vs tendon... for example a ligament is connective tissue structure which connects bone to bone... examples are the anterios cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament...)

Anthony Bray MD :

Tendon connects mucle to bone....

Anthony Bray MD :

Example of ACL tear may be subject to needing surgery as this helps to stabilize the knee.. older patients and non-athletes may elect to forego surgery....a person can function but would be hampered in such a case....

Anthony Bray MD :

Also makes big difference potential in partiel tear vs complete tear >> partial tear may require time to heal >> depends on details of extent of tear and location and degree of tension placed on the tendon....

Anthony Bray MD :

I hope this is helpful for you!!

Anthony Bray MD :

Let me know if you have further questions and Iw ill be happy to get back with you...
