I am an otherwise healthy male 37 yo. no illness history

This answer was rated:

i am an otherwise healthy male 37 yo. no illness history except the odd upset belly that used to be short episodes of daihrea every few months but now almost once a week. Sudden onset with hot flush, stomach cramps and then diahrea. Episode only lasts a maximum of 3 hours but now is starting to affect my life and im worried.
i had a full blood test 12 months ago which only showed low IgA.
I am trying a gluten free diet but it is not helping much.
Otherwise normal bowel movements with no blood but I do go two to three times a day which has increased gradually from one a day over the last 7 years.
I believe it may be food related but not sure which food. Is there anything else I should worry about. I have no other symptoms but do have psoriasis which has worsened in last 12 months also.
Thanks so much for your help

I do have a bit of nausea when an episode happens but then all good. I do get bloated but dont have pain apart from gas. I seem to get better and bounce back once the episode of bowel movements is over in an hour or so.
I rarely drink or smoke but I do worry a bit.
I have novasone cream for psoriasis.
No family history of cancers.
Seen doctor 12 months ago for routine full blood test for work which showed low IgA but he was not concerned.
I do eat dairy and have 3 cans of coke a day as a bad habit.

Thanks for providing more information.

As per your description,in my opinion, you shouldn't ignore your symptoms and a clinical examination by a gastroenterologist should be considered.

As recurrent episodes of diarrhea, bloating can be associated with Inflammatory bowel disease,Irritable bowel disease, celiac disease,Colitis,Diverticulosis.

So further blood work including CBC,ESR,TTG,repeat IgA and colonoscopy should be done in your case.

Many people with selective IgA deficiency have no symptoms however it can be associated with frequent episodes of:chronic diarrhea, gastrointestinal inflammation including ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and a sprue-like illness.

Also you should avoid coke as much as possible.

Now you can take metamucil and Gas X.

Start probiotics.

And hydrate yourself with oral rehydration solution.

Avoid spicy foods.

Hope this helps.
