I have just found out that I have a mass on my spleen, what is my next step?
Welcome to JustAnswer!
Thanks for your question. Please provide me the following information so that I can address your concern appropriately.
How did you came to know about the mass in spleen?
Do you have any symptoms? Any test report?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I have no symptoms or pain, however 4 months ago I was diagnosed with diabetes it is under control but I keep losing weight. I have lost 40lbs in 2 months. I have a an appetite and I do eat and now I am more tired
40 lbs is very significant.
Your main question was regarding spleen mass, is that right? Was it detected accidentally?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
No my doctor sent me for a CT of abd/pelvis and it shows 2.7cm mass on the spleen
Thanks for the information.
I am sorry to hear about your ongoing symptoms and incidental findings.
Firstly, you have to understand that primary cancer of spleen is very uncommon. In other words, cyst and benign tumors are the most commonly reported splenic mass. You can read more about it from this link:
Since you have wt. loss and tiredness, further investigation is mandatory in this case to pinpoint the exact cause of your symptoms. At this point, I would consider a follow-up evaluation by an oncologist for overall assessment and investigation.
