C5/6, per MRI and Xrays, I have left paracentral disc osteophyte complex, uncovertebral hypertrophy causes worsening severe left neural foraminal narrowing. The right neural foramen is patent and there is mild central canal narrowing.
And C6/7 show left disc osteophyte complex and uncovertrebral and facet hypertrophy causes moderate left paracentral central canal compression and moderate left neural foraminal narrowing. The right neural foramen is mildly narrowed.
My spine surgeon has reccommened ACDF C5/6 and C6/7 with a foraminotomy.

Greetings.

Are your symptoms progressive (increasing in intensity)?
Which specialist have you consulted (apart from spinal surgeon / neurosurgeon)?
What how much duration did you do physical therapy?

Symptoms are progressing quickly and I now have some pain in my left arm. I did PT for about 6mos. in 2008 after the car accident which started it all. I have also done home traction. I have seen three spine rehab doc and one spine surgeon. My Chiropractor 2-4 times a month since 2008.
Hello Kellee,

The indications of surgery are;

1) Progressive symptoms
2) Failure of adequate conservative treatment.

I am afraid, both of these indications with your MRI findings point for surgery. Surgery is likely to resolve your symptoms. So your specialist is correct in recommending surgery.

Please feel free for your follow up questions.

I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

JulieLockesburg, AR

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.

John and StefanieTucson, AZ

I have been dealing with an extremely serious health crisis for over three years, and one your physicians asked me more questions, gave me more answers and encouragement than a dozen different doctors who have been treating me!!
