What is the exact reason why there is an interaction bet. lamictal

Resolved Question:

What is the exact reason why there is an interaction bet. lamictal and birth control. I want to know in particular the actual scientific evidence that shows that birth control decreases the levels of lamictal.

Lamictal is metabolized (broken down) by a process called glucuronication.
Contraceptives have the ability to induce the enzymes that cause glucuronidation, thereby increasing the breakdown of lamictal (and therefore causing decreased levels of lamictal in the blood)
