Polymyalgia is treated as following;

1) Corticosteroids (prednisone); often cause complete or near-complete symptom resolution.
2) Analgesics like NSAIDs may provide supplemental pain relief.
3) Occasionally methotrexate or azathioprine are used.

This is a self limiting disease and in many patients, it may resolve on it's own. The average duration of remission is about 3 years.
