How old is he and has his reflux been medically evaluated? What other herbal remedies are you considering?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
He has had several tests in the last two years. He has a small hiatal hernia.. and his doctor has given him this Prilo Sec med. I have had him on native remedies and it actually did tremendous results.. but has recently come back so I'm putting him on some homeopathic and other herbs to help the acid reflux. He has been coughing for over two years and we can't figure out the problem. He's had every test that he can have and the doctor that went in to look at his lungs just said he has a lot of conjestion. can the conjestion be from acid from the stomach constantly coming up and hits his lungs? When we were in California for one week he never even coughed and felt wonderful.. maybe it's the weather? When he was a young adult, he would get this fit of coughing and had to have antibiotics to get him well. Now for the last two years, we can't seem to get rid of the cough... somewhat dry cough.. doesn't bring up anything. Hot and cold on the lungs and chest keep him sane. We've literally done everything for testing. Acid reflux meds seem to have helped him the best and have kept him from using the PriloSec meds... is the stomach throwing up acids to the lungs... how does one know if it's COPD? Right now he's on anbiotics for 5 days as I sent him to urgent care.. but he sees his PCP on Thursday. Thank you

the Prilosec does seem to help, but you'd rather he not be on that?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Yes, he still coughed when he used Prilosec

He has taken flem samples from his lungs to have tested because they though he might have an infectious lung disease due to him taking an old house roof off that had lots of green stuff, etc. on the shingles.. but they tested no lung disease at all.

Has he tried antihistamines, a Netie pot, or saline nasal irrigations?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

I don't think he has ... does antihistamines "dry up sinus"???

He had sinus surgery to fix a deviated septum and so now he breathes better... so he's thinking it's either sinus related and the stuff is seeping down onto his lungs.. or it's acid reflux coming up from his stomach.

I'm at a loss as to why he is coughing for 1 1/2 years now and we can't seem to find a cure for it.

He said his PCP says he has COPD... but when we were in california for over one week he felt wonderful with no coughing at all.

Sorry--is he 38 years old? Does he smoke? Does he have any problems with wheezing? And I assume somewhere along the line he did have a chest x-ray?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Yes, he has had a chest x-ray and all the tests you can imagine.. even a surgeon going in under anesthesia to look at his lungs and the doctor said Terry has lots of congestion on his lungs".

He has never smoked. He doesn't wheeze... they said he doesn't have asthma... but he is at my home going to college on line... since he has been here.. and I have an electric forced air furnace.. I hear that isn't good for people with coughs... his PCP told him to get a de-humidifier to dry up his room and that hasn't even seemed to slow it down.. but now he is doing more coughing that sounds like his lungs are trying to get rid of something.... dry climate?

OK--this isn't COPD, and I think it is most likely from GERD--the acid reflux. That said, what homeopathic treatments have you tried?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

If you have heard or want to go to the website... he has used Acid-Free Flux and Gastronic Dr and it has worked wonderful for him and kept his acid down and from coming up on his throat.. and it helped for about 5 months, so their experts suggested he stay on that program. I don't know if I can tell you everything it has in their products but terry said the Acid-Free Flux worked marvelously! BUT it probably takes awhile??? before the lungs get free of the congestion and to KEEP it off is what we need to do...

Can he use these herbal remedies while he's taking his antibotics for 3 more days?

Expert:  Dr. Chip replied 5 years ago.
OK--give me a minute to look at the site.

Hold on a minute more

OK--the ingredients in those products are very good and no long term problems with their constant use, although I'd add probiotics also. No problem with those and still taking the antibiotics. So long as the GERD can be effectively treated, that should resolve the cough problem.
