My sister was recently diagnosed with Candida. How should

This answer was rated:

My sister was recently diagnosed with Candida. How long should she be on a special diet to ensure that she gets rid of it? What medications if any, should her physician have prescribed for it? are there any special complications to watch out for?
Hello,
Welcome to justanswer and thank you for your question.
Candida infection is caused by Candida albicans , this is a common type of fungus.
This is diagnosed with a small amount of the vaginal discharge which is examined using a microscope.
Medications are available in either vaginal creams or suppositories.
A single pill of a medicine called fluconazole, prescribed by doctor can also treat this infection. Medications like- miconazole, clotrimazole, tioconazole, and butoconazole are effective.
If patient doesn't get treated, then Chronic or recurrent infections can occur. She should follow the tips or changes in diet 2-3 weeks.

She should follow these dietary changes-
Avoid ALL foods that are high in simple carbohydrates (sugar, corn syrup, honey, molasses, fruit juice, dried fruit, other sugars or foods containing them), yeasts (all raised, yeasted dough: bread, crackers, bagels), ferments and molds (mushrooms, alcohol, vinegar, peanuts, cantaloupe), milk products except yogurt (milk is high in the sugar lactose), high carbohydrate vegetables (potatoes, corn, parsnip).
Eat "Super Foods" plentifully, especially fresh garlic.
Oral anti-fungal medications are given to cure the symptoms.
