I have been having mild, intermittent pain in my left calf

Resolved Question:

I have been having mild, intermittent pain in my left calf for a few weeks. This sometimes happens at night, too. I have not been having spasms, just a mild ache. Any ideas what might cause this?

Hi,
Are you on any medications including birth control pills?
Any medical illness?
Does your calf pain when you squeeze it?
Is your leg swollen?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I stopped taking birth control pills about 6 weeks ago. The only other medication I take regularly is Allegra. The only chronic illness I have is costochondritis. My leg is not swollen, and it does not really hurt if I squeeze it.

One of the common causes is deep vein thrombosis.
Doppler scan may be done for evaluation.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
I thought deep vein thrombosis would cause more consistent pain?
Expert:  RK replied 5 years ago.
It need not cause more consistent pain.
Sometimes DVT may exist even without causing any symptom also.
So a more consistent pain need not be present to suspect DVT.
