My wife aged 64 has Bulbar ALS diagnosed nearly a year ago.

Resolved Question:

My wife aged 64 has Bulbar ALS diagnosed nearly a year ago. None of her limbs are affected yet, but she has great difficulty in swallowing. The doctor in charge of her (we live in France) wants to put a tube into her stomach through which she can receive nourishment during the night. She is still very active and loves swimming. The doctor has told her that she will not be able to swim once the tube (or valve?) is in place. We have been told of people who have had this proceedure, who can swim wearing some sort of jacket. We would like some ideas on this, so that we can discuss the situation with her doctor.
Thank you
